weekly log
During week 1 we set up the initial blog we uploaded a powerpoint jpeg that depicted my initial preliminary schedule this can be viewed in the preliminary schedule page. I also used btemplate to adept my blog to make it appear more colourful. This I created by adding a red design to the back of my blog.
week 2
in week two we looked a finding examples or our preliminary task we viewed school magazines and annotated hem we then produced mock ups of a front cover and contents page. my mock up put an emphasis on learning i decided i would have two older students working together to promote the ideas of unity in the school.
week 3
in week 3 we started our preliminary task and took the photos for our front covers. we then proceeded to edit them on Photoshop. at this point i had to decide how to edit my picture i decided to make it more bright and vibrant to reflect the opinion of the school i wanted to create. I added to this a blue header to match the school colours. due to this my work appeared to be slightly difficult to read and the placements of the articles could have been better.
week 4
we put the finishing touches to our preliminary task and blogged them in a seperate file.
week 5
we explored more colourful ways to show our blogs this was always a chance to view differant ways to upload things to our blog including uploading directly from pow toon.
we started to research different music genres on the internet I created a PowerPoint to show the separate genres and the different pages they contain. I had to go into great depth when analyzing the pages especially the two page spread. i struggled with this as i had to go into great depth and analyse different types of music magazine and it was difficult to analyse genres of music i am not familiar with.
week 6 i started my research into magazines and genres my work clearly showed me that the different genres of magazine highlight different styles of layout. for example i liked the extreme close ups that were visible in my research of hip hop magazines and the full length shot exhibited in the indie magazine.
Week 7
At this point i started to put together my questionnaire. I felt it was incredibly important to find out information that would help me aim my magazine at certain ages and social groups. I also wanted to find out how much people would be willing to pay for my product i therefore compared it to similar items on the market. it was at this point i decided i would have the most information on a rap magazine so i thought i would most likely do a hip hop magazine.
by week 8 i had started to put together my plans and treatment together for my final piece I decided I would put an emphasis on making the colours dark put with a contrasting white that will draw attention to the articles whilst still maintaining the urban appearance of a rap magazine. also important to me was the impact of a stone background this was necessary to create the appearance of isolation and i think the final picture i used reflected very well the idea of urbanization.
week 9 my completion of the layout of my front cover allowed me to move onto making my final piece
week 10 i started to take the pictures for my final piece as i have mentioned i used a brick background and i gave my model dark clothes to wear as i knew this would appeal to the right kind of audience.
week 11 i looked at fonts and font colours made the decision to use a red font for my title and used the font stencil std. these support the genre and the font is very east to read.
